1120

That, my friends is the number of 45's that I have counted today! An impressive number to some, a minor number to others. Anyway you look at it, it is the number that we will be working with.

Now, let's look at this from a Ted Turner perspective. The black and white first.
1120 singles. 7 days in a week. 365 days in a year, 10 singles a day plus comments. That gives me 4 months to complete my mission. {{Black and white grainy film fades to black}}

The colorized version provides you with this..........I laughed my ass off as I counted the singles and saw the absurdity of the order of songs, none of which I altered or detered from, I assure you!!! We are going to be jumping decades with mind-boggling, hair-raising speed!!!! If you come back every day, you will end up muttering, "Huh? WHA??????" at the end of each post.

This has been a crazy, emotional month for me. But, knowing that I had this to look forward to, made me push forward. After 16 hours, I have put away all of the Christmas stuff (my personal prerequisite for starting this), cleaned and polished the apartment, cause God knows it will get ignored whilst I am doing this and now, I can lose myself in what I love the most.....my music and sharing it with everyone.

{Ya know, I am thinking that if you keep track of the songs and you email me, I could make you some cds. Just a thought!}

I did some debating amongst myself (I always seem to lose these things. go figure!) about whether to just do the 45's I had in sleeves or to use the ones that we have been buying since we were wee little ones. (at this particular junction it is in your best interest to look at the picture) These are the singles that we threw away the oh-so valuable sleeves for and stacked them on the brightly colored plastic 45 holders! Well, sentiment won out, as did the number of people that I grew up with that will be reading this, so I am starting with the bare-assed singles....crazy scratches and all. If you are wondering who the "WE" is, it will always be me and my brother Steven that I am refering to.

So, do I go to sleep and start fresh in the morning time? or do I give into my insomnia and start now???? Hmmmmmm....................................................................................................

  1. I don't want you making any mistakes! (lol) Rest tonight and start fresh in the morning! BTW, my tree is still up with the decorations. I am figuring next weekend for removal and storage. I never had the stack like cannisters. I have them in little boxes. But of course not as impressive as your coolection. The boyfriend is worse than me. He has them numbered and dated when they were purchased. (lol)

  4. 1120...very impressive! Hey, whatever happened to that "Evog"(?) furry thing that covered one of those record holders?

  5. Ahhhh Evog. The bright yellow and those huge plastic eyes! He is long gone. Mom might have thrown him out cause he was old. Do you remember which one he belonged on? The blue one or the green one? By the way, are you going to count the records in your basement?

  6. I confess that not only were all of my 45s numbered and dated, but I kept a handwritten list by single number, title, artist, and year. At my first office job, using a Lanier word processor I transferred the list to a file and saved it on an 8" floppy disk. Laniers lasted about 12 seconds and I had to start from scratch when PCs came out. That wasn't fun because I had almost 1300 45s. To complicate matters, cassingles (oy) had supplanted 45s and then CD singles became popular and I had to add a column called "format." My 45s are still in storage, and my cassingles have since been sent to a loving home.
